While at iris I pushed quite hard to convince our clients of the need to move into the newer social networks that catered to more niche markets and was populated by their market audience. In the case of Rimmel London, Tumblr was the appropriate network as young women who already loved to share their makeup experiences and product insight frequented the site as readers and bloggers. Building a site with tumblr allowed for many development shortcuts such as free hosting for the site and all required files and media, only requiring front-end development, having a pre-built CMS and lastly a an already existing social network of consumers.
